jump, bounce, POSE!

February came and went in a flash didnt it ?  Cant believe it is already past the middle of March! Mind you I am counting down the days of the next 2 weeks as I am going away on a weekend retreat with some lovely ladies I met online at UKScrappers.  I am hoping to beat my personal best of 2 LO’s at a  retreat although  at the rate I chat and eat cake whilst sipping on a glass or two of wine, I dont hold much hope.

I did manage to have a go at the March House Challenge on UKScrappers this week. The challenge was to do a monochrome LO.

I have used these photo’s of Amy playing on the trampoline last spring. As per usual she was even posing for the camera while bouncing!

My girl loves to be in front of a camera. Can you tell ?

I chose to use shades of grey taking inspiration from Amy’s skirt and shoes. I stamped out the base with grey ink and then went over it with a paler grey acrylic paint to add some texture. The flowers were cut from a co-ordinating paper which is from a Papermania Range I think.

It’s Only Taken Me 5 Months . . . . .

to finish this mini album!!  The album was made at a class run by Cleo Crafts way back in October 2010. I knew I wanted to use the album for my photo’s of The Chocolate Drops but somehow just never got round to printing out the photo’s.

Then in February 2011 I printed out the photo’s and took the album to the Twilighters Retreat at Peace Haven. Well, I made good progress at the retreat and managed to mount all the photo’s and place them in how I wanted them but then ran out of time to do the journaling and finishing touches.

So now in March 2011 I’ve finished it!!  Not bad eh!

Fun & Play

Happy Monday!!  Well the sun is trying to shine here this morning without much luck although the rain and hail has stopped so that’s a positive.

OK I must confess to being a little bit naughty this morning! I logged on to UKScrappers to have a look at the weekly challenge and I loved it, so much so that I started on it straight away instead of doing the housework! Well its was a quick LO as the criteria was ‘White Space’  so there is still plenty of time for me to do the breakfast dishes and the laundry before I have to go out.

Here’s my LO featuring the ever adorable Madison Babycakes playing in the cat tunnel.

No Longer WIP’s . . . . Now Finished and Filed!

The weather has been awful here, really awful. We have had sleet, snow, hail, wind – you name it we’ve had it!  So it’s been a perfect weekend for staying in and crafting snug and warm which is exactly what I have done. As I mentioned in my last post I had several WIP’s laying about which really needed to be finished so I decided to use this weekend to get those done.

First up is my  January LO for Project 12. Here’s the sketch we are working with:

January

And here is my take on it. January was quite a busy month for us so I had a good few photo’s to chose from. I used the journaling block to summarise the month’s goings on.

ext up is the LO I started way back at the beginning of February at the Peace Haven Retreat! I had an idea of how I wanted this to turn out and it was just one of those that didnt really come together so I ended up cutting it up and changing my idea altogether!

This is my beautiful Lola La’Finkle:

The papers are MME Lost & Found and the pink blooms are by Prima. The small green flower is a paper flower that I made a while ago for a mini album but I made too many so have a few still laying round.

Finally is a ‘quick’ LO I started at the Craft Club (I’ve started a club in our local village to introduce people to scrapbooking and card making as there is nothing like it here at the moment). I say ‘quick’ as it was intended to be started and finished within an hour to show a few ladies about scrapbooking in the hope that they would want to have go. Well, I spent so much time chatting and drinking coffee that I hardly got anything stuck down at all. I kept the LO simple so that the ladies new to scrapbooking could follow and produce LO’s of their own.

The photo is of Amy & Tony last summer on the water shoot slide at Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park in Norfolk while we were over visiting my brother.

Whoosh!
Whoosh!

So there's the fruits of my crafty weekend!  No longer WIP's . . .  but finished and filed.

Real Life, Hospital Appointments and a Bit of Photography

Well the title to the post just about sums up my last week or so :(  I wont bore everyone with the details of my life so lets just say that Im pleased the last week and a half is over and I'm looking forward to getting back to being crafty.

I signed up for the Got Paint class on Big Picture Scrapbooking which started 2 weeks ago and I haven't made a start on it yet other than reading through the handouts, so that is my priority this coming weekend. I'm also behind on my 52Q tags but to be honest I'm loosing interest in them, some of the questions are just not inspiring me so I have decided to keep a note of the questions and maybe I will go back to them at a later stage.  I have made a start on my January and February LO’s for Project 12 which I am pleased with so far but they are nowhere near finished so for now they are WIP’s, as are a couple of other LO's that I've started and not finished! I can see a trend developing here - note to self: Finish WIP's before starting anything else!!

One project that I am up to date with is my Photography A-Z!  We had some gorgeous sunshine last week (don't know where its gone now mind you!) so I enjoyed a day out with Eugene taking photo's. I only have 2 'E' photo's to share for now:

'E' is for Earls

This statue is in Rathmullen, Co Donegal and is called
The Flight of the Earls

'E'-Earls

'E' is for Ewe

Ewe looking at me kid ????
I couldn't let the ‘E’ photo’s go by without taking a pic of a Ewe especially has we are surrounded by them here in Inishowen!!

'E'-Ewe

I was hoping to get a couple more ‘E’ photo’s by the weekend before we move on to ‘F’ but to be honest I don't see me managing it now. Oh well, 2 is better than none I suppose.

WOYWW #91

It’s that time of the week again!  I do love my wednesday nosey around everyone’s desks. Go check out the wonderful Julia’s blog, The Stamping Ground for the list of everyone who is taking part this week.

What’s on my desk this week ?    Not much as I have not been doing anything crafty for a couple of days. After the half term last week I’ve had a few jobs that needed doing that I couldn’t really get done with the kids at home. My kitchen is now sparkling clean, all the cupboards have been sorted out and I’ve had a little re-arrange of things. All the beds have been stripped and aired, laundry all done and floors all mopped.  Domestic Bliss!   So that’s my efforts at housework done for another year . . .lol!!

So back to my desk. These two items arrived in the post on monday:

WOYWW91

First up is ‘Passion’ my Blue Nose Bear. He was a limited edition one and I couldnt get him locally so I ordered him from the wonderful auction site we all know so well. He is No.68 in the collection, and yes, I have them all!  There are 4 new releases out this month too so Im going to be adding to the collection again soon.

Underneath Passion is my bumper bag of sponge brushes which I got from an art suppliers here in Ireland for a fab price of €2.50!  I’d seen them up in town for 80p each - £1.50 each so I was very please to find this bag of 25 for such a great price.  I need the brushes for the new class I signed up for on Big Picture Scrapbooking called Got Paint, so hopefully I’ll have some artwork to share with you later this week as the first class was issued last Thursday but I have not yet had the time to start. Now I have my brushes there’ll be no stopping me!

Thanks for stopping by today!
HAPPY WEDNESDAY,

Its Sketch & Scrap Time

As its the 1st of the month its time to share my Sketch & Scrap LO for February. The photo's were taken of Amy last summer wearing her 'must have' accessory - PINK SUNGLASSES, which cost a staggering £1.00 from Primark!  She went everywhere with them.

So, here is the sketch we had to work from:

And here is my interpretation.

The letters for the word PINK were actually the same as the other chipboard letters in green and white before I covered them in pink acrylic paint and stamped on them in white ink. To make them glossy I covered them in Glossy Accents which took an age to dry but was worth it.
