Packing Up and Moving Out!

Well only temporarily anyway!  My craft room is packed up into totes and boxes ready for the off first thing Thursday for my back to back scrapping weekends. My first stop is Leeds where I am attending the Scrapstars retreat, my first ever ‘official’ retreat (as opposed to the DIY ones I do with my teamies). To say I am super excited about it doesnt even come close!

On Sunday when the retreat finishes Eugene is flying over to join me and we are going to enjoy five days of exploring the Lake District and Scotland whilst I am en route to Loch House for my second scrappy retreat, this time with some of my teamies from UKScrappers.   While he will fly home on the Friday I will be heading to Moffat for a weekend of scrapping, chatting and great food!  All in all a fabulous 11 days awaits me and I am so looking forward to it.

I’ll have lots of photographs and LO’s to share when I get back as I need to catch up on my 52 Walks and Scrap 2012 projects.

’See’ you all in a fortnight!

Its all in the Huff & Puff!

Finally this weekend I have managed to do a couple of LO’s and break my scrappers block!
The weekly challenge on UKS was a great one this week and we were given a sketch to use which I loved:

week 1

I turned the sketch on its side for my LO:

Huff-&-Puff

The other 2 pieces of criteria for the challenge were to use buttons and photo’s that would make us smile. These pics of Tony make me smile. I took them last summer at Pollan Bay. Tony was going so high on the swing and when I asked him how he gets up so high is reply ‘its all in the huff and puff Mum’ . . lol

I have a second LO finished but I cant share it with you yet as it is for the weekly challenge that my team, The Rik Rak Ravers, are setting on UKS in a couple of weeks time.

Only 11 more days until my scrappy getaway!  The Scrapstars Retreat is now just around the corner and we have started to receive sneaks of the classes . . . . . lets just say excitement levels are rising!

Scrap-A-Sketch March Reveal

Its our first month with the new group of scrappers who love sketches! Shirley kicked off Scrap-A-Sketch with this sketch which I rotated 90 degree’s for my LO:

Considering I have had severe Mojo-itis, Scrappers Block or whatever else you want to call it I am pleased with my finished LO. I have had a group of photo’s from a trip I took to London in 2006 with the kids sitting in my ‘to scrap’ box for a fair while with the intention of doing a mini book but instead I have opted for this.

Behind the main photo is a pocket containing inserts with the other photo’s on. The title, Back Where I Come From is inspired by a song of the same name by Kenny Chesney. Due to work commitments that year it was difficult for Eugene and I to get time off together (as we worked together!) so I took the kids on a 5 day break to London to show them where I grew up. This was their first time in London and they were super excited albeit a little spooked by the noise and crowds having grown up in the Lincolnshire countryside. Going down on the underground with them was an experience I shall never forget . . lol  In fact the high speed train down to London was a first for them too!

The inserts are double-sided. I trimmed the tops with a ribbon frill so that when they are tucked into the pocket it gives the impression of a singular trim.

We visited The Tower of London, Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square, London Dungeons, Tower Bridge, The London Eye (which we went up in – mega scary for me!!) Hamleys Toy Shop, The Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, Covent Garden and Guys Hospital. Yep, I even took them back to show them the miserable grey tower block hospital where I was born many many moons ago.

I wonder what Suzy has in store for us with her choice for the April sketch ?
